27-year-old Caeleb Dressel is an American swimmer who possesses seven Olympic gold medals. His swimming prowess made immense headlines at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where he won five gold medals. It made him the fifth American swimmer to win five gold medals in a single Olympic Games after 1970.

The Florida boy also boasts 15 gold medals and two silver medals in the long course world championships and six gold medals and three silver medals in the short course world championships. Nevertheless, Dressel also holds world records in events like - 100-meter butterfly (long course and short course), 50-meter freestyle (short course), and 100-meter individual medley (short course).

Despite his impeccable achievements, Caeleb Dressel decided to take a break from the sport in 2022. After Michael Phelps’s retirement, Dressel had come to the limelight. Without disappointing his fans, he managed to bag five gold medals in the Olympics for his country. However, he felt extreme competition pressure when it was time for him to compete at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships. It led Dressel to withdraw from the competition midway.

After a 17-month-long break, the swimmer clinched his first win at the 2023 US Championships by competing in the men's 100m butterfly in Greensboro, North Carolina. Currently, Dressel is focusing on making it to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Caeleb Dressel’s Wingspan

Caeleb Dressel has a wingspan of 6 '4'' (193 cm). His wingspan is slightly shorter than legend Michael Phels’s 6’7”. However, Dressel’s height of 6 '4'' helps him accelerate impeccably while swimming.

Dressel’s wingspan perfectly adds an advantage in his swimming capabilities. His large wingspan helps him to pull more water with every stroke and reach farther levels. Moreover, his 6’4” wingspan is an inch greater than his height. In a study performed by former resident USA National Team coach Jonty Skinner, swimmers whose arms are relatively long in relation to their height, tend to have the best long axis strokes especially in freestyle and backstroke. Nevertheless, their short legs help them to paddle with more power without having to drag the body much.
