"And just like that": Gilbert Arenas' ex Laura Govan reacts to her son Alijah Arenas' Top 25 ranking on IG

Son of the three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, Alijah Arenas, is one of the most talented players in the Class of 2026. He has also received five stars from ESPN, Rivals, On3 and 247Sports.

Arenas' mother, Laura Govan, has always supported him when it comes to basketball. She has featured Arenas multiple times on her Instagram, including the time when Arenas went up against former MVP Kevin Durant.

This time, she reposted a ranking list published by the famous high school basketball Instagram page: Slam High School. The post showed the updated list of the Top 25 rankings for the junior class, in which Arenas ranked third.

Gilbert Arenas and Laura Govan separated in 2014 after they were engaged for a brief period. They have four children: two sons, Alijah Arenas and Aloni Arenas, and two daughters, Izela Arenas and Hamiley Arenas.

On3 ranked Alijah Arenas as No. 6 overall earlier, but he has jumped three spots now. Furthermore, he also achieved five-star recruit status in the Class of 2026. The Chatsworth, California, native is playing up at the 17U level with the Compton Magic program on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. He scored 21.4 points with an impressive 48% field goal, including 24.3% from beyond the arc.

While he missed some time out due to an injury this summer, he also played well at the USA Basketball U17 Training Camp.

For Chatsworth High, Arenas played two games in his freshman season, averaging 30.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.6 blocks per contest. However, in his sophomore year, he played two more games, Arenas scored 33 points, grabbed 8.6 boards, dished out 2.9 assists and stole the ball 1.3 times per game.

Gilbert Arenas compares Alijah Arenas with two NBA All-Stars

Gilbert Arenas and his son Alijah Arenas appeared together in an interview on the YouTube channel "Susosu Water." When the interviewer asked about his son's gameplay, Arenas said that it is a mixture of Kyrie Irving's and Devin Booker's:

"When people ask me what type of game he has, I mean it's a mixture of Kyrie Irving's dribbling, I'm putting in a little bit of Devin Booker's pull-up game. I'm pulling from the great, adding it and giving it to him so it's this combo mix-up of everything." [10:26]
