NBA players have been mentoring some of the best high school basketball stars with the NBPA Top 100 Camp, including AJ Dybantsa, Tyran Stokes, Cameron Boozer and more. The camp took place earlier this year when both Dybantsa and Stokes were still teammates at Prolific Prep.
The 'Betweenxthelines' YouTube channel went to the camp and gave a mic to No. 1 ranked five-stars AJ Dybantsa and Tyran Stokes. The two were given the chance to interview NBA stars and they decided to talk to Minnesota Timberwolves guard Austin Rivers.
The two asked Rivers, son of Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers, which player he found the hardest to guard, and Rivers revealed it to be none other than Steph Curry.
"Hardest player to guard, uh, probably Steph," he told the two No. 1-ranked prospects. "He don't stop moving too, so he's definitely the hardest. He's the most exhausting to guard." (12:49-13:00)
Tyran Stokes then asked Austin Rivers who was the toughest player he ever had to guard on the post if he ever got switched on. Austin revealed that it was the father of one of the camp's attendees, Kiyan Anthony.
"Melo," he told AJ Dybantsa and Tyran Stokes. "Melo is like the, that's the craziest dude I've ever tried to guard. Yeah it's impossible to guard Melo. Melo crazy." (13:07-13:18)
The two five-star recruits then asked what it is like guarding LeBron James, though Austin Rivers noted that the father of Bronny and Bryce James was more of a threat on transition.
"Yeah, he's more different," answered Austin Rivers. He dominates through, like, transition, you know what I mean. He dominates through, like, getting the ball in transition, pick and roll, he controls the game, but it's not like he going to hit you with a crossover, you know what I mean? Like LeBron's more calculated." (13:18-13:29)
The two five-star recruits have since parted ways with Prolific Prep, with AJ Dybantsa now playing for Utah Prep while Tyran Stokes is with Notre Dame.
Who else was with AJ Dybantsa and Tyran Stokes at the NBPA Top 100 Camp?
Only the best players can even be considered to participate in the NBPA Top 100 Camp and play with actual NBA players. Because they were the No. 1-ranked prospects in their respective classes, AJ Dybantsa and Tyran Stokes qualified, but who else was there?
Chris Cenac Jr. from Link Academy, a five-star power forward, as well as the Boozer Twins, Cameron and Cayden, both five-stars, were part of the camp.
Notable NBA sons, such as Tajh Ariza, son of Trevor Ariza, and Kiyan Anthony, son of Carmelo, were both there as well. Brandon McCoy Jr., Jermaine O'Neal Jr., Kayden Mingo, Winters Grady and Andre Iguodala II were also there.
