Four-star running back Alvin Henderson is one of the most promising prospects in Auburn's 2025 class. The standout from Elba High School in Alabama is currently enjoying a phenomenal senior season, as he reached 10,000 career rushing yards on Friday.
Henderson hit this mark during the first-round playoff game, where Elba won over Verbena, 77-14. He contributed six carries for 240 yards and five touchdowns, becoming the 12th player in high school history to achieve this feat, according to MaxPreps.
Henderson is also the first player in Alabama high school football history to surpass 10,000 career rushing yards, breaking the long-standing state record held by Mac Campbell of Alexandria for nearly three decades.
Alvin Henderson is ranked by Rivals as the No. 34 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 2 running back in the 2025 class and the No. 2 recruit in Alabama. Across five seasons and 52 games, he has averaged over 13 yards per carry and rushed for at least 100 yards in 42 games.
Henderson still has his sights set on the all-time high school rushing record held by Derrick Henry, former Alabama star and current Baltimore Ravens running back, who rushed for 12,144 yards. Reaching that mark is a challenge, but Henderson’s performance this season shows he is ready to give it his all.
Alvin Henderson opened up about his affinity for football
Alvin Henderson is enjoying a sensational season with 2,625 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns across just 10 games. From his magnificent statistics, anyone can sense that he has a great passion for football. But more than passion, it's his love for the game, where he wants to keep himself engaged.
“When football season is over, I’ll be bored,” Henderson told AL. “I play basketball but without football, I’d probably be somewhere in the streets. I thank my mom and my coaches and everything for that because if I wasn’t able to play football, there’s no telling where I’d be at today.”
Henderson has been committed to Auburn since June and has also played key roles in recruiting prospects like four-star quarterback Deuce Knight. He plans to graduate in December and enroll in Auburn’s spring semester.
For now, Elba is riding an eight-game winning streak, and Alvin Henderson is now eyeing both a state title and Alabama's prestigious Mr. Football award.
