Auburn continued its busy summer of official visits this past weekend by hosting several top recruits, including 2026 class running back Eric Perry from DeSoto Central in Southaven, Mississippi. Perry made his official visit to The Plains and came away with a strong impression.
"It went great," Perry told Rivals. "I learned a lot about this place and I really enjoyed my time. It feels like home."
Auburn’s offensive coordinator, Derrick Nix, is leading Perry’s recruitment, and the Tigers currently hold the top spot in his list of suitors. Though Washington State and Jackson State are also heavily pursuing him, Perry admitted that beating out Hugh Freeze’s program will be a challenge.
During the visit, Perry and other recruits shared a meaningful experience with Coach Freeze.
"The food, when they took us to the light show, they had us a video with Coach Freeze talking to us," Perry said. "I got to feel like, how the culture is, what his standard is, what's expected of me."
According to On3, Auburn is the heavy favorite to land Perry, giving the Tigers a 92.1% chance of earning his commitment. The Tigers don’t have a running back committed in its 2026 class, which ranks No. 14 nationally with seven total commitments.
Auburn is also trending for four-star WR Marquez Daniel
Four-star wide receiver Marquez Daniel is a top in-state program for Auburn in the 2026 class. The Booker T Washington (Tuskegee, Alabama) standout took his official visit to Hugh Freeze's program this weekend.
"It was very important to see how they show real and true love to me," Daniel told 247Sports following the trip.
Daniel lives less than 30 minutes from Auburn’s campus and has visited several times. He is being recruited by wide receivers coach Marcus Davis, and this weekend's visit has significantly boosted Tigers' position in his recruitment, which is now neck and neck with Florida.
"I'm glad to see everything. Spending a whole day on campus for real," Daniel told Rivals. "I had a great time. I talked it over with Coach Davis and Coach [Maurice Harris]. I had a great time."
According to On3, Auburn currently leads Daniel’s recruitment with a 58.9% chance of landing him, while Florida follows at 32.4%. Daniel is scheduled to visit the Gators next weekend. Daniel is the No. 24 wide receiver in the 2026 class and the No. 9 recruit in Alabama.
