Four-star interior offensive lineman Chauncey Gooden from Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, is one of the prized recruits of the Colorado Buffaloes 2025 class. He has stayed committed to Deion Sanders' program since June and is making an official visit this weekend.
Gooden will attend Colorado’s Big 12 clash against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Friday. The No. 23 Buffaloes (8-3, 6-2 Big 12) aim to close the regular season strong, while the Cowboys (3-8, 0-8) are mired in an eight-game losing streak. Gooden is already in Boulder and shared his visit via Instagram on Wednesday.
Deion Sanders has been pulling out all the stops to keep top recruits engaged, and he immediately posted on X, writing:
“'I ain’t Hard 2 find.' Let me know what’s up if u want what we want. #CoachPrime.”
Gooden is ranked No. 369 nationally and the No. 27 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class by the On3 Industry Rankings. He is also Tennessee’s No. 10 overall recruit and earned the prestigious 247Sports Alpha Dog title for his dominance in one-on-one drills.
Analyst praises Deion Sanders' recruiting effort for the Colorado Buffaloes
Chauncey Gooden has received more than 50 offers, but he chose the Colorado Buffaloes over Ohio State, Clemson, Oregon, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida State and Michigan, among others. Denver Sports’ Jake Shapiro viewed his commitment as a critical indicator of Sanders’ intentions at Colorado.
“Maybe the most interesting sign in all of this is the recent uptick in prep recruiting again from Coach Prime—which is a sign he could be here to stay longer than most think," Shapiro said. "Why would be spending time and effort trying to flip some of the nation’s best preps who are committed to play in the Big Ten and SEC if he wasn’t going to coach them?”
Gooden’s pledge adds to a recruiting cycle that has seen Sanders make bold moves, including flipping five-star quarterback Julian Lewis from USC. For some, it felt like the Trojans would retain him, but Sanders' push ultimately won his pledge.
The ability to lure top talent suggests Sanders is laying the foundation for sustained excellence in Boulder. Colorado's 2025 cycle ranks No. 48 in the nation with 11 committed players.
