Three-star wide receiver Sam Turner from Southwest DeKalb High School in Atlanta, Georgia, has been committed to Georgia Tech since June. However, Auburn is making a strong push to sway him to the program's 2025 signing class.

Turner visited the Tigers for a gameday visit at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday, marking his third visit to coach Hugh Freeze’s program this year. Despite Auburn's massive 73-3 victory over Alabama A&M the previous week, their performance in Week 2 was disappointing. The Tigers scored early but struggled offensively before losing 21-14 to California, a two-touchdown underdog.

"Yeah, it's a tough game," Turner told Auburn Undercover. "But you know, it's a new — I'm lost for words right now. It was hard seeing that. The quarterback — at least pull him out. It's early in the season, mistakes happen, they can shake it off."

Talking aside the surprising loss, Turner was impressed by the gameday atmosphere.

"The atmosphere was amazing," Turner said. "That was my first time being in the stadium for this game, and I loved it. We've just got to win the ballgame, that's all."

Sam Turner visited Liberty and BYU in June and is set to return to Auburn again for an official visit during the weekend of the Oklahoma game on Sept. 28. Before that, Hugh Freeze's Auburn will face New Mexico on Sept. 24 and Arkansas on Sept. 21.

Can Auburn flip Sam Turner from Georgia Tech?

Last month, Cole Pinkston of Auburn Live projected that Sam Turner could join Auburn's 2025 class. The program has an 87.5% chance of flipping him from Georgia Tech, according to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine.

The main draw for Turner appears to be Tigers wide receivers coach Marcus Davis.

“What stands out about him is his faith,” Turner told On3. “He leads on faith. That’s big for me and my family. That’s what he preached today and the culture. Just the tradition and trying to build on that."

Auburn's history of developing top wide receivers also plays a crucial role in Turner’s interest. With successful alumni like Van Jefferson, DK Metcalf, Laquon Treadwell and Elijah Moore, the Tigers have proven to be a nurturing environment for receiver talent, which has certainly left a mark on Turner.

Sam Turner is ranked by On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 452 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 74 wide receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 51 prospect in Georgia. If he commits to the Tigers' 2025 class, he will be their first wide receiver prospect of the cycle.

Auburn's 2025 cycle has committed 23 players, which ranks No. 6 in the nation and No. 5 in the Southeastern Conference.
