The 2027 recruiting class is already seeing standout prospects emerge, and one of the latest to gain significant attention is cornerback Hayden Stepp from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. Stepp received his latest offer from Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday.
Georgia defensive back coach, Donte Williams, extended the scholarship to Stepp, making the Bulldogs the first Southeastern Conference program to offer him. The prospect shared the excitement on X, writing:
"After a great conversation with Coach @CoachDee_UGA I am blessed to say I have received and offer from The University of Georgia! 🔴⚫️ #GoDawgs."
This offer from Georgia further solidifies Stepp's growing reputation as one of the top sophomores in the nation. Though currently rated as a three-star recruit by On3, he holds a four-star ranking from 247Sports.
Stepp capped off a phenomenal sophomore season at Bishop Gorman. In nine games this season, he recorded 20 tackles (15 solo and five assists), one interception, six passes defensed and one fumble recovery, according to MaxPreps. His ability to make plays both in coverage and in run support makes him a complete defensive back and a valuable asset for any college program.
Stepp is the No. 3 cornerback in the 2027 class, the No. 37 prospect in the nation and the No. 2 recruit in Nevada, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Ahead of Georgia, he received offers from schools like Miami, Boise State, UNLV and California, among others.
Georgia also sent offers to multiple cornerbacks in the 2027 class
With the 2025 class signed, Georgia has shifted its focus to future recruiting classes. The Bulldogs have extended offers to several cornerbacks in the 2027 class, including three-star recruits Duvay Williams and Havon Finney.
Alongside these higher-ranked prospects, Kirby Smart's program has also shown interest in unranked cornerbacks such as Censere Gaylord, Jacob Whitehead, Jaylyn Jones and Trezavant Boyd.
At this early stage, Georgia doesn’t have any commits in the 2027 class and also doesn't hold a clear lead in any of those aforementioned recruitments. However, the Bulldogs are expected to ramp up their efforts in the coming months to make a strong push for these cornerbacks as the 2027 class begins to take shape.
