Three-star cornerback Dante Core flipped his commitment from Auburn to Ole Miss on Monday. He had been committed to the Tigers since May but had a change of heart after attending Lane Kiffin-coached school's 28-10 win over Georgia on Saturday.
Core's flip came just a day after several predictions were made suggesting he would make the switch. The move makes him the 19th player in the Rebels' 2025 recruiting class, which now ranks No. 19 nationally and No. 10 within the Southeastern Conference.
Core becomes the second cornerback in the class, joining four-star Maison Dunn. This cycle also features blue-chip prospects like running back Shekai Mills-Knight, defensive lineman Andrew Maddox, safety Cortez Thomas, wide receiver Dillon Alfred and linebacker Jarcoby Hopson, among others.
Meanwhile, Core's flip is a major blow to Auburn, who has struggled to retain recruits during a disappointing season in which the Tigers have gone 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the SEC. Before Core, the school saw six decommitments, including top recruits like Kalen Edwards, Hollis Davidson and Antonio Coleman.
However, Auburn's this cycle got a big recruiting win by flipping four-star quarterback Deuce Knight from Notre Dame last month. It ranks No. 6 in the nation with 26 committed players.
Dante Core shares the reasons behind his flip from Auburn to Ole Miss
Dante Core is ranked as the No. 626 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 57 cornerback in the 2025 class and the No. 77 player in Florida, according to On3. Speaking with the Rebel Walk, he opened up about his flip from Auburn to Ole Miss, saying:
“What made me choose Ole Miss was the coaches and the players. I love the way these coaches coach, and I love the connection that all the players have. It really feels like home."
Core also liked how he is treated by the Rebels coaching staff.
“I’m a priority there,” Core told On3. “They need me. I liked how I got to see how the culture is. You can tell the players like it, the staff, everyone likes being at Ole Miss.”
Core has recorded 25 tackles (two tackles for loss), five pass breakups and two interceptions this season for Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
