Kiyan Anthony, son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony and a four-start recruit considered the No. 1 player in New York for the Class of 2025, has been busy ahead of an important college decision on Nov. 15. He sat down with League Ready's Jason Jordan on Tuesday to talk about that and the schools he had visited.
Jordan mentioned that Kentucky commit and four-star recruit Acaden Lewis told him that he and Kiyan found another school to be the best college visit they had. Kiyan admitted that it might just be the best of them all, even though he is not going there.
"Low key, like under the radar, me, Acaden Lewis, and Cam Ward (Miami Hurricanes quarterback) all went to Florida State," he told Jordan. "That was all our first visit together, so we went, we didn't know what to expect because that was our first visit and then they just they like, I'm not even going to lie like after the visit, we was like 'what if we just team up?'." "That was definitely one of the best, if not, the best," Kiyan Anthony continued. (9:40-9:42)
While he admitted that he really enjoyed Florida State University, Kiyan will not be playing for the Seminoles, as he is now down to his final two schools, them being USC and his father's alma mater, Syracuse.
Kiyan Anthony talks about which school had the best visit photoshoot
The conversation then led to Jordan asking which school he had the best official visit photoshoot with, and Kiyan Anthony admitted that it was Syracuse, as he did it with his mom and dad.
"Um, I gotta give it to Syracuse," Kiyan said. "It because they did something big. They brought my dad's game-worn jersey out there, and he was excited to see that, and just my mom. She knows a lot of people out there and then my dad obviously played there, so they put together the whole package and then once they brought out the jersey, that was definitely one of the best photoshoots." (9:52-10:11)
His mom, actress La La Anthony, joined her ex-husband and son during that photoshoot, with Carmelo wearing the 2003 jersey from Syracuse's NCAA championship win. La La also wore a Syracuse jersey of her own.
That Syracuse shoot also featured the 2003 national championship trophy that his father won, with father and son taking a picture with it together.
