Carde Smith, a four-star prospect from Mobile, Alabama, pledged his allegiance to the Colorado Buffaloes on Nov. 29. He chose the Buffs over USC, Florida State, Auburn and Mississippi State. The four-star prospect signed with Colorado on National Signing Day after being committed to the USC Trojans for the better part of his recruiting process.
Deion Sanders and company have had a fantastic recruiting year as they landed 14 top athletes from the Class of 2025. The Buffaloes' biggest acquisition happened when they successfully landed four-star quarterback Julian Lewis.
Smith will be tasked with protecting the talented quarterback.
The 6-foot-6.5 offensive tackle spoke about his decision to join CU in an interview shared by Sam Spiegelman on Twitter.
"It's amazing," the tackle said. "I'm just ready to go out there and get to work."
He further talked about the moment he knew the Colorado was his final destination.
"Really after my second visit," Smith said. "I just felt like home."
Carde Smith is ranked No. 226 in the country and is the 20th-best offensive tackle in the Class of 2025, according to On3. He is also the 15th-best recruit from the state of Alabama.
Carde Smith flipped his pledge from the USC Trojans to the Colorado Buffaloes
An offensive tackle from Williamson High School, Carde Smith, announced his flip to the Colorado Buffaloes from USC on Nov. 26. He took a U-turn from his commitment to the Trojans a week before that, on Nov. 20.
This was the four-star recruit's third commitment this year. He first decided to join the Auburn Tigers in April before backing off his pledge in June. He then chose the Trojans but ultimately ended with the Deion Sanders-led program.
Smith's main reason for joining Colorado was the expectation of playing early in Boulder, as per On3's Chad Simmons. According to the analyst, the four-star prospect "sees an opportunity to play right away in Boulder."
Colorado signed 14 players from the Class of 2025 and had a fantastic climax to their recruiting cycle. The Buffaloes made offers to 330 athletes from the class. However, they made some great signings in the clutch and will look to have a great season next year.
