Rutgers forward Ace Bailey reshared a video on Instagram posted by Red Bank High School (Chattanooga, TN) junior Journey Holloway on Saturday. She joined the 1K Club with Red Bank as she crossed the 1,000-point mark in their match against the Hixson Wildcats on Friday.

Bailey has started his freshman season for the Scarlet Knights after he officially committed to Steve Pikiell's side on Jan. 15, 2023. He is currently averaging 17.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.8 blocks and 1.1 steals per match while shooting 46.7%, including 35.1% from beyond the arc in nine matches.

In high school, he was ranked No. 2 nationally and in the small forward position and first in Georgia in the 2024 class. Playing for McEachern High School, he won the 2023-24 Gatorade Player of the Year, Boys Basketball - Georgia.

He averaged 33.4 points, 15.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.9 blocks. He also led his team to a 26-6 record and a Class A title. He was also a part of the GHSA Boys Basketball Committee's all-state first team and a McDonald's All-American. He further represented Team USA in the U17 World Cup in Turkey.


Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell on Ace Bailey

Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell commended Bailey's versatility in an interview with NBC Sports. The video was posted on Oct. 11:

"Ace Bailey may be the most versatile wing player in the country," Pikiell said (timestamp 1:00). "What he does is pass the ball. He's an elite 6-foot-10 passer, really sees the floor and can make plays. But he's an emergency defensive guy and can really block shots from the weak side. .. He makes guys around him better, which I think the great ones do."

This season, Pikiell has signed four players, Chris Nwuli, Gevonte Ware, Lino Mark and Kaden Powers, from the 2025 class.
