Finch's football lineage runs deep as his father played at the University of Florida. His family boasts a rich history in the sport with relatives having played at Fresno State, Illinois and Tennessee State.

This strong familial connection to football has instilled in him a passion for the game. Securing a promising player like him for the 2026 cycle will be a major win for Ohio State.

The Buckeyes have one commitment from Mater Dei wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. and are eyeing additional talent. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine indicates a favorable outlook for Ohio State in its pursuit of Georgia native and four-star DL Deuce Geralds with a 77% chance of securing his commitment.

Jerimy Finch Jr.'s recruitment update

Despite having received no crystal ball projections from 247 Sports, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Wisconsin leading the race for Jerimy Finch Jr.'s commitment with a 64.6% probability. This marks a dramatic turnaround from just two months ago when Notre Dame appeared to be the clear favorite with a 94.7% chance.

In April, Finch Jr. expressed a strong preference for Notre Dame as he said that his recruitment was centered solely around the Fighting Irish. However, following Wisconsin's offer on Aug. 11, the dynamics of his recruitment have changed and the Badgers quickly became the frontrunners.

Jerimy Finch Jr. is the No. 364 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 37 defensive lineman in the 2026 class and the No. 1 prospect in Indiana, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. His Warren Central Warriors suffered a 33-7 loss against Lawrence North on Friday which brought their record to 6-1 as they prepare to face Carmel on Oct. 11.
