The 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive lineman was originally committed to Sherrone Moore's program in April before flipping to Auburn three months later. His decision to join the Tigers was heavily influenced by Auburn defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams. However, Michigan continued pursuing him, and the effort proved fruitful with his recommitment.

Rivals ranks Marshall as a five-star prospect, and according to the outlet, he is the highest-ranked defensive commit to Michigan since Will Johnson (2022). He is ranked as the top recruit in Illinois by Rivals, the No. 2 defensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 26 prospect in the nation.

Marshall plays for Fenwick High School in Illinois and was named the Chicago Catholic League/East Suburban Catholic Conference White Tony Lawless Player of the Year this fall. He is also a talented basketball player, helping Fenwick capture a regional title as a sophomore.

Marshall joins four-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman and three-star defensive lineman Kalen Edwards to back off his pledge from Auburn's 2025 cycle. This cycle also witnessed the decommitments of seven more players, including blue-chip prospects like offensive tackle Tavaris Dice and linebacker Tyler Lockhart.

The Tigers' 2025 class is back to three defensive linemen: four-star prospects Malik Autry, Antonio Coleman and Jourdin Crawford.

Meanwhile, Michigan holds 21 commitments in the 2025 class with Marshall's commitment, ranking No. 7 in the nation. The Wolverines' cycle is only improving after flipping five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood from LSU. The school also remains hot to flip five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood from Alabama.
