Four-star linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., the son of former NFL star Thomas Davis, is one of the most promising players in the 2026 class. The blue-chip prospect was in attendance during Oregon's game with Michigan State this past weekend, alongside his Weddington High School (North Carolina) teammates four-star defensive lineman Andrew Harris and Aiden Harris.

Oregon delivered a dominant 31-10 win, improving to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten. Davis was impressed with the performance and spoke highly of his experience (via SI):

"It was great. I was very excited to be able to experience Oregon and just being able to watch these players learn and prepare and go execute was great."

Dan Lanning has received praise for the Ducks' continuous success, and a dominant showing like this will catch the attention of top recruits like Davis.

The team’s offensive line had an impressive performance, especially in run blocking against Michigan State’s defense. However, it wasn't just the on-field display that caught Davis’s eye.

"The facilities were top of the line and the coaches were excellent as well," Davis said.

Oregon will have the toughest week so far, as it's set to face Ohio State on Saturday.

Thomas Davis Jr. recruitment update

Notre Dame has become the clear frontrunner in the recruitment of Thomas Davis Jr.

Earlier this year, NC State appeared to be in a strong position in his recruitment, with the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine giving the Wolfpack a 20.3% chance of securing his commitment. However, their odds have since plummeted to just 1.4%, leaving the path wide open for Notre Dame.

The shift in Davis’ recruitment momentum can be traced back to his visits to Notre Dame. He first visited South Bend in April before returning to the school in late July. These visits boosted Notre Dame’s chances, positioning the Irish as the clear leader in the race. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has given Notre Dame a 93.7% chance of securing his pledge.

Following his July visit, Davis spoke with Blue & Gold about his admiration for Notre Dame and mentioned that the Irish are "high up there" among his top schools. The school has two players committed in the 2026 class: quarterback Noah Grubbs and wide receiver Dylan Faison. Adding a blue-chip prospect like Thomas Davis Jr. will be another big boost to the class.
