Auburn fans at Jordan-Hare Stadium were finally treated to a signature home victory as the Tigers (5-6) outlasted Texas A&M (8-3) in a 43-41 four-overtime thriller on Saturday. Running back Jarquez Hunter led the charge, delivering an exceptional performance with 130 rushing yards, three touchdowns on 28 carries and 23 receiving yards from four catches.
This effort brought Hunter's season total to 1,145 yards and eight touchdowns, earning him his second Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor. His standout game captivated the attention of four-star Georgia commit Ousmane Kromah, who attended the game over the weekend.
"I think he’s got 1,100 (yards), in college that’s crazy," Kromah told Auburn Rivals about Hunter.
With just 162 yards needed to break into the Tigers' top 10 for single-season rushing yards, Hunter, a senior, will look to continue his strong season as the team heads into its final game of the year against Alabama on Saturday. Besides him, freshman wide receiver Cam Coleman also played a big role in the win over Texas A&M, recording 128 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this win and offensive performance give the team an edge in Kromah's recruitment. He committed to Georgia last month, but the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Tigers a 21.6% chance of flipping the running back from the Bulldogs.
Ousmane Kromah recaps game-day visit to Jarquez Hunter's Auburn
Fans at the Jordan-Hare Stadium rushed the field instantly following the Tigers' historic win over Texas A&M. Ousmane Kromah was impressed with the craziness, as he recapped the experience with On3:
"It was crazy. The game was like — when I tell you I was standing up — I was on my tip-toes and nobody was in front of me."
Before committing to Georgia, Kromah visited the program on Aug. 31 and witnessed the Tigers' 73-3 win over Alabama A&M.
"The experience, just being around all the people, was way better than the last time I was here … 100 percent," Kromah told Auburn Live following his first game-day visit."It just made me like Auburn way more."
Ousmane Kromah is a multi-sport standout from Lee County East Middle School in Leesburg, Georgia, excelling both in football and basketball. He has made the decision to stay committed to playing basketball for his school, meaning he will not graduate early in December to join the Bulldogs.
