Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class was once ranked No. 1 nationally, but it took a hit after several top-tier prospects, including five-star edge rusher Richard Wesley, backed out of their commitments. Other notable four-star prospect who decommitted are Kodi Greene, Tomuhini Topui, Bott Mulitalo and Jonas Williams.
Wesley returned to Dan Lanning's program over the weekend for an official visit and wrapped up what was described as a great trip.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound pass rusher racked up 99 tackles and 19 sacks over his first two years of high school. His visit came less than two weeks after he decommitted from the Ducks just 17 days into his original pledge, which drew backlash from fans.
"This is lame af," a fan wrote.
"Needs to make up his mind. You just decommitted from same school," another fan wrote.
"Big time drama queen with this kid," one fan tweeted.
Wesley's initial commitment went viral when Lanning jumped into a pool to celebrate with him, and the moment is now being ridiculed by fans.
"No kiddie pool this time ?" a fan said.
"Just stay away from pools this time," one fan wrote.
"Traded in a pool for a truck," another fan commented.
Wesley is the No. 4 edge rusher in the 2026 class and the No. 5 prospect in California, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He remains a strong candidate to recommit to Oregon, similar to what happened to five-star Georgia quarterback Jared Curtis.
Former Oregon star is recruiting five-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho
Five-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho has narrowed his college choices to four, with Oregon making it alongside Penn State, Auburn and LSU. Besides strong interest from the Ducks' coaching staff, Iheanacho is also being personally recruited by the school's first-round NFL pick, Josh Conerly Jr.
On Friday, Conerly showed his support by tagging Iheanacho in his Instagram story with a three-word message.
"Come home brudda," Conley wrote.
Oregon offensive line coach A'lique Terry is recruiting Iheanacho to the Ducks. According to 247Sports’ Staff Projection, Iheanacho is expected to choose them, and On3 gives them an 86.1% chance of securing his commitment.
“Oregon is the top school, but these official visits will play a big part in my final decision,” Iheanacho said on Friday, via On3. “My relationship with the coaches at Oregon is what has them at the top. I like the staff a lot, and we can talk about anything.”
Iheanacho is the No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2026 class and the No. 3 prospect in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
