A lot of great basketball players start showing their ability in middle school, and seventh grader Mason Gill could be one of them. During the Made Hoops East Middle School Academy in Queens, New York, the middle school star wowed many with his display of athleticism and skill.

As the video showed, Mason Gill demonstrated several nifty layups, including a between-the-legs one, as well as an up-and-under. The seventh grader also showcased his quickness, blowing past defenders or managing to evade them with some athleticism.
Aside from his talent in taking the ball to the hoop, Gill also showcased his range, showing that he can also sink the ball from behind the 3-point line. He also almost made a dunk, which may mean that in a few years, or a quick growth spurt, he may become one of the most proficient dunkers before he gets to high school as he grows taller.
Gill is part of the Class of 2030, which means he still has at least two more years of middle school to finish.
Mason Gill has been impressing at Made Hoops events since 5th grade
Mason Gill first burst into the scene in 2023, when he was still in elementary school. As a fifth grader, Gill took part in Made Hoops' Jr. Finale event in 2023 and was named one of the biggest standouts from the Class of 2030. Made Hoops staff was all praises for the then-elementary schooler, who played for Talented Basketball at that time.
"Gill appeared to be the straw that stirs the drink for this Talented Basketball. He was a consistent playmaker who had a knack for breaking down defenders with his counter moves. The floor general was a vital piece to his teams success and their a dangerous group to be reckoned with in the 5th grade division," wrote the Made Hoops staff.
He also impressed during last year's East MSA.
They continued singing his praises as the East MSA camp went on:
"2030 G Mason Gill is impressing here for Talented Basketball. One of the best 6th grade prospects on the East Coast between his scoring prowess, feel & IQ," wrote Made Hoops.
Aside from basketball, he also plays soccer and football, as shown on his social media.
