Four-star running back Byron Louis flipped his commitment from the Florida State Seminoles to the Florida Gators on Tuesday. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound prospect had previously been committed to the Seminoles' 2025 class since Sept. 21 but reversed course after multiple visits to Gainesville this season.
Louis' decision marks the third time in less than two weeks that Billy Napier's program has poached a top prospect from their in-state rival. Louis' decommitment comes on the heels of Mike Norvell's coaching staff losing quarterback Tramell Jones and offensive lineman Daniel Pierre-Louis to Florida.
The Gators’ recruitment momentum has left fans on both sides buzzing.
"We are raiding FSU's class. And idk if that's a good thing," a fan wrote.
"Does FSU have any 4-5 star recruits left😂😂😂😂," one wrote.
"Can’t blame the kid. But damn that has to hurt FSU fans 😅," one wrote.
"We’re not letting them have shit 😂," another added.
"7th kid UF has taken this month that wasn’t a take for Miami. Appreciate them putting FSU into the grave, though," another wrote.
Louis initially chose Florida State over offers from Wisconsin, Miami and Georgia. However, his visits to the Gators, including an unofficial trip for the school's 27-16 win against LSU on Nov. 16 and an official visit last weekend for its 24-17 win against Ole Miss, strengthened his decision.
"Billy is cooking 💀," a fan wrote.
"Keep cooking 🔥🔥🔥🔥," one wrote.
Louis is the No. 237 overall talent in the 2025 class, the No. 16 running back nationally, and the No. 33 recruit in Florida. However, his flip was not Florida's sole recruiting success this week.
On Monday, Napiers' coaching staff flipped linebacker Ty Jackson from USC, along with offensive tackle Jahari Medlock (formerly committed to Cincinnati) and wide receiver Muizz Tounkara (an Arizona flip).
Florida State Seminoles and Florida Gators recruiting class update following recent flips
With Byron Louis' decommitment, Florida State lost its sole running back commit in the 2025 class. Florida State has 12 players committed to its 2025 recruiting class, ranking No. 31 in the nation.
The early signing period is one week away, but the Gators are pursuing four-star Georgia running back commit Ousmane Kromah. The school might also focus on the transfer portal for any RB recruit. However, Norvell's program is also trying to retain its pledge of five-star offensive lineman Solomon Thomas.
Meanwhile, Florida's 2025 has 19 committed players with Louis' addition. The cycle ranks No. 17 in the nation and No. 10 in the Southeastern Conference. He joins Waltez Clark and Chad Gasper in the running back room.
