College football recruiting has become more unpredictable in the last few years. Despite a player’s commitment to a school, flips remain an integral part of the process. A combination of factors, such as coaching changes, NIL deals, playing opportunities and relationships with staff, often leads players to reconsider their original pledges.

The Class of 2025 has already seen several significant flips, with more than a dozen five-star prospects changing their pledges. Let's take a look at five of them.

Top 5 biggest flips in the 2025 class

5. Na'eem Offord

Five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord flipped from Ohio State to Oregon last week. He had been the highest-rated prospect in the Buckeyes' 2025 class since February.

Offord took visits to Auburn as well, but Dan Lanning's program ultimately won the race. He is the No. 3-ranked cornerback in the nation and the No. 1 recruit in Alabama, according to On3. He is the second highest-rated prospect in Oregon's 2025 class, trailing five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore.

3. Dakorien Moore

Five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore backed off his commitment to LSU in May and gave his pledge to Oregon in July. Ducks wide receiver coach Junior Adams and running back coach Ra’Shaad Samples led the charge in his recruitment.

Moore is the nation's No. 1-ranked wide receiver by all recruiting sites and the No. 2 recruit in Texas, according to On3. The Texas standout is now the highest-rated recruit in Oregon’s history.

2. Keelon Russell

Five-star quarterback Keelon Russell flipped from SMU to Alabama in June. He had been a member of the Mustangs' 2025 class since last year. He is the first high school quarterback to commit to the Crimson Tide under Kalen DeBoer.

Russell cited his relationship with DeBoer and quarterback coach Nick Sheridan as key factors in his decision. The chance to chat with Alabama’s current quarterback, Jalen Milroe, and the Crimson Tide’s legacy of success also played big roles. Russell is the No. 1-ranked prospect in Texas and the No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 class, according to On3.

1. Bryce Underwood

The crown jewel of the 2025 recruiting class, Bryce Underwood, flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan last month. He swayed due to Michigan's whopping NIL deal, reportedly ranging from $10-$13 million.

Underwood witnessed heavy push from the Wolverines fans, who flocked to his high school. Even Michigan alumni NFL GOAT Tom Brady maintained conversation with him over FaceTime, while billionaire Larry Ellison made financial contributions. With these heavy efforts, Michigan stopped its in-state prospect Underwood from heading to LSU and secured the nation's No. 1 football player in the 2025 class.
