Coleen Hoover’s novel It Ends with Us was announced to receive a motion picture adaptation in 2019, by Justin Baldoni, who is known for directing Five Feet Apart and Clouds. The movie has garnered widespread acclaim from the global audience, even before its debut, and the reason behind it is the original novel, which sold over one million copies in more than twenty different languages.
The novel’s popularity also contributed to Hoover’s fame, making her one of the most acclaimed authors in the romance and young adult fiction genre. In January 2023, the film confirmed, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni as the lead cast.

It Ends with Us was initially set to release a few days before Valentine’s Day, which is on February 9, 2024, but it was later pushed to June 21, 2024, due to a scheduling conflict. Given Focus Features’ The Bikeriders on June 21 was the only wide release, Coleen Hoover’s film adaptation was pushed for the third time.
It Ends with Us will be released theatrically on August 9, 2024. Still, the film will be facing strong competition from M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap and Eli Roth’s Borderlands. Regardless, the hype and anticipation for the film is incessant, given it's the first film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel.
The filming for It Ends with Us began on May 5, 2023, at Field Colony in Hoboken, New Jersey. The location didn’t sit well with the novel fans and the original source material, given the book notably takes place in Boston. Plot summary
It Ends with Us follows Lily Bloom, a dedicated and hardworking person who doesn’t let anything stop her, no matter what life throws at her. Hailing from a small in Maine, where she completed her graduation, Lily moved to Boston to start her own business, with an upbeat entrepreneurial spirit in her heart.
However, her life becomes even more exciting when she encounters Ryle Kincaid, an arrogant and stubborn, but brilliant and handsome neurosurgeon. Ryle also develops feelings for Lily, despite his one rule that strongly says “no dating.” Ryle’s aversion to relationships makes Lily eager to learn the reason behind it.
As Lily and Ryle’s relationship begins to blossom, the former’s first love, Atlas Corrigan returns to her life, complicating her feelings and causing her to question her choices.
