“My Spider-Man”- When Zendaya shared a throwback photo of Tom Holland in his Spidey suit

The Spider-Man duo, Tom Holland and Zendaya have been in public talks in recent years since they appeared together in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. They were both seen reprising their roles as Peter Parker and MJ in the franchise's later installments Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

On December 16, 2021, Zendaya, from her official Instagram account, shared a carousel of two photos. The first slide showed Tom Holland on the sets of Spider-Man: No Way Home, while the other had a photo of the actor as a kid, wearing a Spidey suit. In the caption, she wrote:

"My Spider-Man, I’m so proud of you, some things never change and good thing."

The post received a massive reaction from fans of both Holland and Zendaya, showering their love for the two actors supporting each other. A few months back, on September 1, 2021, Holland shared a post of the two together on Zendaya's birthday. The actor wrote:

My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when your up xxx

It went on to become an iconic picture of the two, coming out together as a couple to the public.

The Spider-Man couple had trouble with the public in the past

In an interview with GQ, published on November 17, 2021, Holland shared insights into the hardships that come with being a celebrity couple. He said:

"One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn't really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world."

Holland added that he has always been very adamant about keeping his private life away from the public eye since most of his life is on screen. As per the actor, both he and Zendaya had felt that they had been robbed of their privacy. He later added that keeping most parts of their relationship private is a mutual decision.

"I don't think it's about not being ready. It's just that we didn't want to."

In the same interview, Holland addressed the media's question about his height. He said:

“I cannot do anything about my height. I can put on more muscle.”

Holland further added that on red carpets, he would intentionally stand closer to the photographers than the people behind him to look taller. Both Holland and Zendaya, while talking on the SiriusXM podcast on December 11, 2021, addressed the stereotypical comments made about them for their height difference.

Holland said that it is a completely stupid assumption that their height difference would be an issue in their relationship. Zendaya said that this is very normal since her mom is also taller than her dad.

Holland further explained that during the filming of Spider-Man, all the candidates selected by Jon Watts for the role of MJ were actually taller than him.

"I remember when we were doing the Spider-Man screen tests... You'd have to ask [director] Jon Watts this question, but every girl that we tested for both roles was taller than me," he said.

Holland added that selecting two actors with the girl taller than the boy was a way for Watts to break the existing stereotypes.

Tom Holland shares date night with Zendaya, promoting his non-alcoholic beverage Bero

As per an E-News article, published on November 25, 2024, Holland shared a clip of the two heading for a Boston date night at Foxhole in Newbury, Massachusetts.

The actor said, “I’m heading out to a bar to have my first Bero in the wild, I’ll let you know how it goes.”

Holland is later seen sipping a glass of Bero, with Zendaya cheering in the background. Zendaya is further seen in Holland's story, posing a smile before the glass at the bar named Foxhole in Newbury, Boston.

As per a Hollywood Reporter article published on October 21, 2024, Tom Holland is set to join Christopher Nolan's next movie along with Matt Damon. Distributed by Universal Pictures, the movie is set to release on July 17, 2026.
