Angelina Jolie recently got a tattoo in honor of her role as producer of the recently released Broadway musical The Outsiders. It said, "Stay Gold," a quote from the musical's character named Ponyboy. The 48-year-old actress went out for the premiere of the Broadway musical on Friday, April 11, 2024.
As she posed for pictures on the red carpet with her 15-year-old daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, she revealed a peek at the new tattoo tucked in among her other body art.
Allure reported that it references the 1983 Francis Ford Coppola film and the S.E. Hinton book The Outsiders, on which the Broadway production is based.

The Outsiders producer Angelina Jolie recently attended the premiere of the show. At the event, she flaunted a fresh tattoo on her forearm inspired by The Outsiders.
"Stay Gold," which appears in the updated screenplay, is a quote from the 1983 Francis Ford Coppola film and the S.E. Hinton book of the same name, on which the Broadway show is based.
PEOPLE reported that Angelina Jolie wasn't the only cast member to receive a "Stay Gold" tattoo. Justin Levine, another member of the show's design team, shared a photo of his matching tattoo on his Instagram Stories on Sunday, April 14.
Levine displayed the tattoo, which is identical to Jolie's. Levine tagged celebrity tattoo artist Mark Mahoney on his Instagram Story and captioned,
"Never thought I'd see the day."
Moreover, PEOPLE reported that Justin Levine and Angelina Jolie weren't the only ones who got them. Numerous other creative team members, including director Danya Taymor, also got the "Stay Gold" tattoos done by the same tattoo artist. Jolie even invited Mahoney to the premier.
Additionally, this is not Jolie's first tattoo. She has several tattoos. Some of those are important text excerpts and the locations of her children's births. She received a small design on her middle finger in August 2023 and she has since added the recent piece to her collection.

In addition to flaunting her new tattoo, Jolie also gushed over her teenage daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, who assisted her mother in producing the musical. Jolie informed PEOPLE during the April 11 event in New York that her daughter manages the production like a "tough assistant" and does a great job.
"Viv reminds me of my mother in that she isn't focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives. She's very thoughtful and serious about theater and working hard to best understand how to contribute."
Jolie also mentioned that Vivienne kept her in check while working on the show before heading into the theater.
The new Broadway musical, The Outsiders, is about several people who dream of becoming someone they want to be in a world that would never accept them. It explores the difficulties of self-discovery. Moreover, it tells the story of family, friendship, and finding a place in the world despite all its problems.
The Outsiders premiered on April 11, 2024.
