Blake Lively's movie It Ends With Us came out a few days ago, on August 9. While gaining success in the first week since its release, Blake has been subjected to criticism on social media after her promotional interviews related to the movie. Netizens didn't miss out on the different approaches that the two leads of the movie, Blake Lively, and Justin Baldoni, have taken to promote it.

Amid the criticism, she took to her Instagram story and shared a post to make people aware of domestic violence. In the post, she wrote,

"Everyone deserves relationships free from domestic violence. The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides confidential support 24/7/365."

She further shared a link to access the hotline or to know more about it. Internet users have since been calling her out for the approach she took to promote the serious-themed movie. Here are some online reactions:

One user wrote on X,

"Blake Lively posting this on IG after her a** has been getting called out for the press tour..."
"Now. After so much press. Now she wants to speak about DV. This is so TS coded it gives me the ick," added another tweet.
"I will not be forced into liking Colleen Hoover or Blake Lively for the sake of "supporting all women," said a user.

In the middle of bashing, Blake Lively also had a few supporters rooting for her on social media. A user wrote,

"In all honesty she has been talking about violence and how women go through it all but it shouldn’t define us.. I think shes just trying to see the brighter side of all of it..."
"She literally has been talking about this you guys don’t care because you see hating on her," commented another user.
"Y’all told her to do better and she did and people are still mad. Strange," questioned another supporter.

According to a lot of people, Blake's promotional approach didn't relate to the serious nature of the movie. Most of her interviews, as reported by Newsweek had focused on romantic factors.

In a clip shared by the movie's official Instagram page, Blake could be heard saying,

"It Ends With Us is in theaters now, so grab your friends, wear your florals and head out to see it."

Why are people bashing actress Blake Lively for her latest movie promotion?

The movie is based on a novel written by Colleen Hoover. Over the time, when the promotional events were taking place, the cast had participated in several of them and given interviews as well.

Fans reported seeing a striking difference between the way Justin Baldoni promoted the movie and the way Blake Lively has done it. Fans pointed out that Blake had been seen in floral dresses that she reportedly linked to the movie. She also launched her haircare line Blake Brown Beauty amid the movie promotions, which raised eyebrows among many netizens.

Another important factor of her promotional interviews was her talking about her husband Ryan Reynolds and his recently released film Deadpool & Wolverine. She had, however, spoken about the serious part of the film at times. In an August interview with Extra, she said,

"I didn't have any hesitations [with taking the role]... I just fell in love with Lily and I really wanted to tell her story, and to be able to tell it in a way where I was able to have such authorship was really important to me."

Since the release, Justin Baldoni's Instagram bio had a direct link to No More, which is an anti-domestic abuse nonprofit organization. He further tagged them in several posts and worked with them while depicting the violence shown in the film. In an article published on August 9, he told Today,

"The message is the most important thing. That’s why [Colleen] wrote the book..."

In another interview with CBS, that Justin had posted on his Instagram profile too, he was heard saying,

"The question that's always asked is, 'Why did she stay?' That's the wrong question. What we need to be asking ourselves is, 'Why do men harm?'"

Many claimed that the actress had forgotten how serious the theme of the movie was. While she had uploaded a story about domestic violence awareness after all this chaos, it didn't seem to tome down the criticism that she had been receiving from the fans.

WhatsOnNetflix reported that the film will possibly be available on Netflix in the US since they have a deal with Sony Pictures. Keeping that in mind, it has been speculated that the movie will be available after December 7 on Netflix in the US. The platform has not made any official announcement as of now.
