Hugh Grant responds to claims by RHONY's Luann de Lesseps that they kissed at a party

On November 25, 2024, actor Hugh Grant responded to claims made by Real Housewives of New York City star Luann de Lesseps, who recently recounted an alleged romantic encounter with the actor. De Lesseps stated in an interview with TooFab on November 22 that she and Grant 'made out heavily' during a night out in the Hamptons.

Grant addressed these remarks on November 25 in a post on X (formerly Twitter), offering his perspective on the meeting. In his post, the Notting Hill star wrote:

"Steady on. I do remember meeting a charming RHNY in a restaurant, but I’d like to stress it was about 15 years ago. I don’t recall shots or kissing, but her memory might be better than mine."

While de Lesseps didn't specify when this encounter took place, Grant stated that they met 15 years ago.

During an interview with TooFab on November 22, de Lesseps revealed she had gone to Pierre’s, a restaurant in the Hamptons after hearing that Grant was dining there, from her friend. She arranged to sit near him, employing what she called a 'flirting 101' strategy. She recalled:

"I bumped into him and said, 'Oh, I’m so sorry. Can I buy you a shot? I feel terrible.'"

According to her, this led to an evening of shared drinks and culminated in them "making out heavily at the table." She added that her brother, who was present, expressed disbelief at the encounter, to which she responded with equal surprise. De Lesseps also shared that Grant recognized her due to their mutual acquaintance with Bravo executive Andy Cohen.

De Lesseps, known for her appearance on RHONY, was previously married to Alexandre de Lesseps from 1993 to 2009 and later to Tom D’Agostino Jr. from 2016 to 2017. She also shares 2 children with her ex-husband Alexandre de Lesseps.
