English actor and producer Orlando Bloom appeared on the April 18 episode of the podcast What Now? with Trevor Noah and got candid about his relationship with American singer-songwriter Katy Perry.

"I think I just keep coming back to her and trying to hold her hand and walk her back to the sand pit and be like... we are just gonna build a sandcastle," said The Lord of the Rings star.

The conversation began with Orlando Bloom telling Trevor Noah about his recent collaboration with partner Katy Perry on the new docuseries Orlando Bloom: To the Edge and the “little moments” they shared.

Orlando Bloom’s romance with Katy Perry “makes for fireworks”

On Thursday’s episode of What Now? with Trevor Noah, the host remarked that Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry were enjoying “a life of purpose,” “peace,” and “normalcy,” despite their amazing respective careers and fame.

The Hobbit actor used this opportunity to talk about their blooming romance.

"I think one of the things that I fell in love with Katy was... she hates when I say this, so I have to word it carefully, but her music was everywhere, right? When I came up, it was just on every radio station, but I wasn't conscious of... [it] wasn't what I was listening to,” the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador noted.

Orlando Bloom further continued by saying –

“I fell in love with Katheryn, this girl from Santa Barbara. And by the way, parents, pastors, living on food stamps. We are not talking glamorous Montecito… side [of Santa Barbara] that no one knows.”

Praising Perry’s upbringing, Bloom added that he and his partner have an “understanding [of] where we came from, what we worked to do, what we had to do to get to where we got.” The 47-year-old also mentioned that their connection is stronger and deeper because the Smile songstress “definitely demands that I evolve.”

"I feel I do the same for her. And that makes for fireworks, pardon the pun (referring to Katy’s 2010 hit single Firework). But it also makes for a lot of fun and a lot of growth. I wouldn't change it for anything, even when sometimes it feels like, 'How do we do this?' Because we have got these two giant careers and lives, and hers is even, you know... it's like a universe sometimes," Orlando noted.

The In Celebration star wrapped up by saying how he tried to be “man enough,” “big enough,” “capable enough,” and “hold a space big enough” for both of them to fit in comfortably and always kept coming back to Perry.

He also praised Perry for being a “master” in building “little moments” in their everyday life to keep them grounded, including going on impromptu bike rides and building sandcastles together.

Perry and Bloom’s new thrill-seeking docuseries provide an inside look at their shared private moments and adventures.
