Myke Towers appeared for an interview with Rolling Stone on August 20, 2024, and opened up about his collaboration with Bad Bunny for the LA PANTERA NEGRA album. The Puerto Rican rapper is scheduled to release the fifth studio album this Friday, August 23.
Myke's album is preceded by the chart-topping track, Adivino, which first came out on April 25, 2024. The reggaeton track features Bad Bunny and explores everything from love to relationships, and break-ups.
The song came hot on the head of speculations about the split between Bad Bunny and his ex-girlfriend, Kendal Jenner. When asked about confirmations on the matter, Myke Towers laughed and told Rolling Stone:
“When he (Bad Bunny) listened to that one, he said, ‘You know exactly why you showed me that first. I’ll take that song.’ And I think he wrote with the heart because he’s saying facts, talking to a girl he’s got on his mind.”
Advino presents a raw side of Bad Bunny, who reportedly hints at sentimental verses about his past relationship with Kendal Jenner.
"Tú fuiste uno de mis amore', yo solamente fui otro 'e tu' ex"
The translated verses read:
"You were one of my loves, I was just another ex".
The current status of Bunny and Kendal's relationship is not confirmed. However, a People's report from December 2023 hinted at the couple parting ways, only to get together in May 2024.
All you need to know about Myke Towers and Bad Bunny's Adivino song and LA PANTERA NEGRA album
Adivino is not the first track that Myke Towers and Bad Bunny have collaborated on. The two Puerto Rican rappers previously came together for the major hits - Estamos Arriba (2019) and Puesto Pa’ Guerrial (2020).
The duo surprised their fans with the April 26 release of Adivino. The track turned out to be a commercial success and debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on May 11. It reigned at number 63 and secured over 9.9 million official stream units. The track is currently ranked at number 2 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart.
Remembering the time he excitedly approached Bad Bunny for the song, Myke told Rolling Stone:
“We’ve done a lot of music, but we always do trap and stuff like that. This one was different, and I was like, ‘Bro, we have to go with this.’ It was the first song I played for him,” Towers remembers.
Hinting at how he wants to make diverse and fresh music every time, Myke added:
“I don’t like to do anything that sounds the same. I feel like I have all these different sides of me that I want to show.”
Building upon the success of the single, Myke Towers' album, LA PANTERA NEGRA, fuses reggaeton beats with energetic elements of electronic music. The album promises an engaging auditory experience. Myke Towers has also experimented with his music style for the album while taking inspiration from Música Urbana and Bob Marley.
