Exploring Brendon Urie's career amid mustache mania

On Monday, numerous memes and photos of Urie went viral, with many fans humorously suggesting that they could not recognize him with a mustache.

Brendon Urie has sported a mustache at various points in his career, though never quite like the vintage style currently going viral. In the past, he typically maintained a light French beard accompanied by a subtle mustache.

In 2014, he humorously mentioned on X that he was "working on his mustache," where he can be seen with a faint mustache, showcasing a much more understated look compared to his recent choice.

"Working on my mustache at the Guinness Storehouse yesterday in Dublin," Urie wrote.

Brendon Urie's mustache may be trending now, but he has been in the trends for many reasons, including his work as the vocalist in Panic! At The Disco and his solo journey. Urie’s career began as the frontman of Panic! At The Disco, a band that he co-founded in 2004.

Originally from Las Vegas, Urie’s powerful vocal range, magnetic stage presence, and impressive vocal versatility helped the band soar to prominence with their debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out.

According to Pianity, Brendon Urie initially started as a guitarist in high school, even forming a band called Pet Salamander with friends before co-founding Panic! At The Disco, where he initially took on the role of guitarist.

However, his impressive vocal range and dynamic presence soon earned him the position of lead vocalist, setting the stage for his rise as the frontman of one of the most iconic bands in pop-rock. For more than a decade, Urie, along with Panic! At The Disco, gave numerous successful hit albums, including Pretty. Odd. (2008), Vices & Virtues (2011), Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die! (2013), Death of a Bachelor (2016), and Pray for the Wicked (2018).

According to AP News, the band achieved significant success on the Billboard Hot 100, with 15 songs making the chart. Among these, two tracks broke into the Top 10: High Hopes in 2019 and I Write Sins Not Tragedies in 2006. They also reached the No. 1 spot on the album chart twice, first with Death of a Bachelor in 2016, which garnered a Grammy nod for Best Rock Album, and again with Pray for the Wicked in 2018.

However, on January 24, 2023, in a statement on Instagram, Urie shared news of his exit from Panic! At The Disco. He said that he was entering into parenthood and so he planned to focus on his family.

"The prospect of being a father and getting to watch my wife become a mother is both humbling and exciting. I look forward to this next adventure," Urie wrote.

Brendon Urie has not only made a significant impact during his time with the band but has also enjoyed considerable success as a solo artist. His noteworthy solo works include High Hopes, Death of a Bachelor, Say Amen (Saturday Night), This Is Gospel, Dancing's Not a Crime, Victorious, King of the World, and The Overpass.
