A rumor that the National Football League aka NFL has banned Beyoncé from performing at the Halftime Show on Christmas, has been circulating across the internet. The speculation was originally released online through a Facebook post shared on November 20, by SpaceX Fanclub.
The post went viral fast with more than 1k likes and over 300 comments. The caption for the Facebook post read:
"Beyoncé Christmas Halftime Show rejected by NFL: 'She's Not a Good Artist'- SATIRE."
While the caption itself included the word "satire" in it, many netizens seemed to have believed the rumor. A comment made by a user with the username Ewart Ball III read:
"Yahoo now I can watch the game."
Other netizens, however, understood the satirical nature and clarified that the news was fake. Not just SpaceX Fanclub, an article has also been released on Esspots which described the same rumor in a more detailed manner. However, it is necessary to note that the rumor is untrue and must be debunked.
The bio of the Facebook page lists that they post satirical and humorous content only and none of those are true. A portion from the Esspots website also noted:
"Welcome to Esspots.com, a website that specializes in satire, parody, and humor. Before you proceed to read our content, we would like to emphasize that nothing on this website is real."
Both the NFL and Netflix have announced on social media that the singer is scheduled to perform at the NFL Halftime Show for the Ravens vs Texans on Christmas Day.
A similar rumor about Beyoncé has also been reported in an article on SpaceXMania
On November 20, an article was released on SpaceXMania, in which they made similar speculations that Beyoncé was not allowed to perform at the Christmas Halftime Show. Alex Bruno, the author of the article wrote that the decision was taken after "intense deliberations."
The article even cited NFL spokesperson Roger Tonedown, who supposedly spoke about the matter during a press conference. He allegedly said:
"We respect Beyoncé’s contributions to the music industry but we’ve determined that her artistic style doesn’t align with the values of the NFL halftime experience."
As per the SpaceXMania article, Tonedown was asked to elaborate on what he meant by "values", to which he responded saying:
"Well, uh, it’s… family, football, and, um, tradition. And Beyoncé’s music is, let’s just say, not that."
SpaceXMania is also known for posting satirical content on its website. According to the bio of the author Alex Bruno, he has a "passion for space exploration and a penchant for satirical commentary." The bio further read:
"Alex is also known for his satirical writing, which often takes a humorous and irreverent look at contemporary issues and events."
Thus, the overall speculation about the singer not performing at the event is untrue. Also, no prominent publication has covered the same, making it even clearer that it was just another rumor.
