Timbaland, whose real name is Timothy Zachery Mosley, has launched his AI entertainment company called Stage Zero. The Grammy-winning record producer has announced the company's first artist, TaTa, an AI-generated pop artist. Suno AI, a generative artificial intelligence music creation program, will drive the artist.
On June 6, 2025, Timbaland posted on Instagram, clarifying that his signing of TaTa doesn't mean he will stop working with independent artists or use other singers' work to create TaTa's music.
This post was reshared by the Instagram page @hollywoodunlocked, garnering varied reactions from netizens. While some were content with AI-generated artists and music, others strongly opposed it.

One user jokingly commented that they couldn't understand how AI artist would work, and they felt like their grandfather when the iPhone 4 came out.

Some fans supported Timbaland's decision to sign an AI-generated artist, pointing out how people have often criticized emerging technologies like autotune, sampling, and digital production. They stated that AI is similar and artists should feel free to "explore." Another user claimed that humans no longer work hard.
Others were confused with the concept as they kept speculating who would collect paychecks, sign contracts, or perform.
However, a section of fan comments was also against AI-generated artists, as the users said it would put musicians "out of business."
What did Timbaland say about the AI pop artist TaTa?
In June 5, 2025, the rapper told Billboard in a statement that TaTa is not an AI character but a "living, learning, autonomous music artist." Calling her an "icon," Timbaland then stated that TaTa will bring a "cultural evolution" in the industry.
"I'm not just producing tracks anymore. I'm producing systems, stories, and stars from scratch. [TaTa] is not an avatar. She is not a character. TaTa is a living, learning, autonomous music artist built with AI. TaTa is the start of something bigger. She's the first artist of a new generation. A-Pop is the next cultural evolution, and TaTa is its first icon," he added.
In April 2024, the record producer told the same media outlet that the AI technology is "perfect" as it takes only a few days to create something that used to take months. He said at first, he was overwhelmed as it was like "a toy store."
"The technology of today is perfect for what this is. What used to take me three months only takes me two days. In the beginning, it was like a toy. It was like going to a toy store. You gotta go through gluttony, because you can't believe that it's here," he stated.
According to Music Radar's report dated June 6, 2025, TaTa's debut single and album are set to be released soon.
