On Monday, November 25, Teedra Moses appeared in an episode of Tiny Desk Concert that premiered on NPR Music. Videos of Moses performing tracks from her debut album titled Complex Simplicity went viral on social media, many netizens pointed out the similarities between her appearance and that of actress Phylicia Rashad.

Netizens highlighted that Moses looked like the combination of Rashad and her musician sister, Debbie Allen. Some of the comments read:

"She looks more like Phylicia Rashad than Condola Rashad does! And I never really thought sisters Debbie Allen and Phylicia resembled each other but I see a resemblance between Teedra and Debbie as well. Teedra looks like a combo of both Debbie and Phylicia," commented a netizen.
"I came here to see what year this was made because I THOUGHT that was Phylicia Rashad. DANG!!!!!!!," posted another one.
"Omg I thought this was an AI of Phylicia Rashad. And we all know Phylicia can sing as well," wrote a third one.

Others claimed that singer Moses should play Rashad in her biopic.

"What am I watching? Old footage of Phylicia Rashad pretending to be someone named Teedra?" replied another user.
"If they ever did a biopic on Phylicia Rashad, Teedra Moses would’ve have to play her," added a netizen.
"She can def play a younger version of Phylicia Rashad," commented an X user.

For the unversed, Phylicia Rashad is a 76-year-old actress who played the character of Clair Huxtable on the NPR sitcom, The Cosby Show (1984-1992). Rashad also received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for the show. Because of the resemblance between Rashad and Teedra Moses, the Cosby actress is currently trending on social media.

Teedra Moses was on NPR's Tiny Desk to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her debut album

Teedra Moses was invited to NPR Music this week to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Complex Simplicity. The album, which contained 14 tracks, was released on August 10, 2004, and peaked at number 86 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Teedra Moses started her setlist at Tiny Desk Concert with Caught Up, which was followed by the album's namesake track, Complex Simplicity.

Other songs that followed included You'll Never Find (a Better Woman), You Better Tell Her, No More Tears, Take Me, and Backstroke. Teedra ended her set with a remix of Be Your Girl.

Teedra Moses was joined by her long-time collaborator, J. Black, and the Tiny Desk alumnus, Durand Bernarr, at the concert. The 47-year-old was dressed in all red, paying homage to her look in the artwork of her album.

In an interview with Clash Music, released on October 4, 2024, Teedra Moses spoke about her experience of working with Bernarr. She called him an amazing vocalist, arranger, and songwriter, adding:

"On this particular record, it really helps that he’s my friend because the song ‘Complex Simplicity’ is truly one of the most personal, yet extremely celebratory, songs I’ve ever written. He came in and did what he does best, which added more color, texture, and good feelings to a record that already felt really good. It was a seamless fit."

Bernarr also expressed his gratitude to be a part of the revamped version, saying:

"The fact that I had an opportunity to reimagine music that was the soundtrack to moments in my life is beyond imaginable, and I’m extremely grateful to have this moment. Plus, Teedra is my girl!"

The song was released in the first week of October and has since amassed over 36,000 Spotify streams.
