Popular singer Trey Songz has been ordered to pay $11 million by the court in connection to a 2021 assault lawsuit. Allegedly, the incident took place at The Cosmopolitan Hotel in November 2021, wherein Trey Songz AKA Tremaine Neverson and his security supposedly attacked a man named Tyrelle Dunn.
Dunn said he was trying to rescue his wife, as she had been in the custody of the singer’s security personnel without her consent. It is worth noting that Dunn, who is a Maryland Capitol police officer filed the lawsuit and accused Songz and his security of battery, assault, and negligence.
In his complaint, he mentioned that Trey Songz’s security forcefully abducted Dunn’s wife, took her phone, and assaulted her. However, as Dunn approached the scene, he was also not allowed to enter, but could very well hear the screams of his wife.
He claimed that he was then attacked by the people in Trey Songz’s security team, due to which he suffered many injuries in his eye sockets, stomach and even head. Trey was then served with the lawsuit, however, he never responded to it.
Ultimately, the court found him guilty and also stated that he had failed to defend himself in court.
“We are pleased that Trey Songz has been cleared of wrongdoing”: Details explored as the singer's attorneys issue statement as the lawsuit closes
As the lawsuit closed, and the judges in the case ordered Trey Songz to pay more than $11 million, the attorneys of the singer spoke up on the matter and said:
“We are pleased that Trey Songz has been cleared of wrongdoing and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigation has officially been closed. We are grateful to the LVMPD for the professional police work done and their thorough investigation, which included findings of inconsistency in witness testimony and insufficient evidence.”
They continued by stating that Trey is pleased as he “can now return to what he does best, entertaining.”
While Dunn has not yet spoken up since the order was passed by the court, he wrote in his complaint how deeply his life was impacted due to the assault. He stated in his complaint:
“The attack has had a profound and everyday impact on my life. I still have the scarring and suffer emotionally from the attack. I think about the attack every day when I see the injuries to my face and body.”
Furthermore, this is not the only legal trouble that Songz faced over the years, as in 2016, he was accused of s*xual and physical assault by a woman. Furthermore, he also faced a similar complaint in 2013, when a woman claimed that Trey exposed her chest area during an event held in Connecticut.
Thereafter, he was also sued in 2020, and 2018, for physical and s*xual assault. The Tribune reported that Trey has stopped performing live for the masses due to his various lawsuits. However, he is now gearing up for his The Millennium Tour 2025, which is likely to kick off from March 7, 2024.
