Rihanna combated negative comments on her latest Instagram video, where she joked about using her son's passport to sneak into polling booths to vote as she was not a US citizen.

On November 4, the Barbadian singer, who shares two sons with A$AP Rocky, took to Instagram to jestingly post the POV video with the caption:

"When protecting p***ies and firing p***ies can happen all in one vote #votecauseicant #TanSuitSeason."

While many were shocked to hear that Rihanna did not have US citizenship, Trump supporters criticized her for seemingly supporting US Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris based on her caption.

One comment said they were voting for closed borders, adding abortions were not as important as people were making it seem. RiRi responded with:

"You’re f**ked! And so is the America you dream of. Hope you don’t have to find out the hard way."

Another comment accused her of "illegal voting," which the singer was quick to shut down. Someone else claimed she was cheating to win, to which the singer replied they could come "check" her when they stopped burning ballot boxes.

Another comment alleged she might have been rejected when she applied for US citizenship or migrant status, rendering her unable to vote. The singer replied that she loved her Bajan passport, saying she came to the US to work.

"I LOVE my Bajan passport. I came here to work and pay taxes! You're welcome," she wrote.

Rihanna was declared a "national hero" in Barbados

According to The Guardian, the singer was appointed as Barbados' official "ambassador for culture and youth" in 2018. In 2021, she was anointed a "national hero" when Barbados became an independent republic.

Barbados' Prime Minister Mia Mottley paid tribute to Rihanna for "[inspiring] the imagination of the world through the pursuit of excellence with her creativity, her discipline, and above all else, her extraordinary commitment to the land of her birth."

"On behalf of a grateful nation, but an even prouder people, we therefore present to you the designee for national hero of Barbados, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty. May you continue to shine bright like a diamond," she added.

During her acceptance speech, the singer said she was "proud to be Bajan." She also thanked the prime minister for honoring her in her home country, adding, "Nothing compares to being recognized in the soil in that you grew in."

“The people. Y’all are the true heroes of Barbados, and I take y’all with me wherever I go. I’m so proud to be a Bajan. I’m gonna be a Bajan ‘til the day I die. This is still the only place I’ve ever called home. I love Barbados. I love you guys. And I pray that the youth continue to push Barbados forward," she said.
