“Their account literally says "parody" girlll” — Internet reacts as Azealia Banks threatens to sue X page over false Megan Thee Stallion remarks

212 hitmaker Azealia Banks threatened to sue an X page over a false remark related to Megan Thee Stallion and the internet had a lot to say. On Thursday, October 3, Banks reposted a tweet by the X account called Drop Pop or @DropPopNet.

The previous day, Drop Pop's tweet published quotations of a few choice words Banks allegedly had for Megan Thee Stallion. The tweet read:

"Azealia Banks on Megan Thee Stallion: “How you gon’ name your fandom Hotties when you ain’t even decent looking?” "

However, Banks' response confirmed that she had never said such a thing about the WAP hitmaker. She wrote:

"This is a lie. Never said this. In fact I've been vocal about how great meg the stallion has been looking. If going to f**k around and sue this person behind this page. Bored f***t"

However, Drop Pop's bio stated that theirs was a parody account that had been active since 2010. A few X users pointed out the same in response to Banks' tweet. One user, who went by @naevisualizer reminded Banks:

A slew of social media users admired Azealia Banks' reaction to the situation and the tweet. The modified version of a slur she used to end the tweet caught the attention of many who thought that the singer definitely "ate" with the tweet. Here are a few X reactions to Banks' tweet:

A few other X users claimed that they knew Azealia Banks did not say what Drop Pop quoted but also asked her to stop being defensive. Some users even criticized Drop Pop for allegedly spreading misinformation:

Drop Pop responded to Azealia Banks

As mentioned earlier, when Azealia Banks lashed out at Drop Pop and called them out with a quote-retweet, the account itself provided a reply to Banks' accusations. In response to the singer's choice of words, Drop Pop told the singer that they could "work it out on the remix". The X account further clarified:

"For context, the post about Azealia is not factual. We are a parody pop page, as stated multiple times in our bio and expanded bio."

Drop Pop's official bio described the account as people's "all-time favorite source for pop parody culture and worldwide news". The 'About' section on their page further details:

"Parody account, everything posted on the account is for humorous purposes, our posts are not meant to be taken seriously."

Azealia Banks previously talked about Megan Thee Stallion when she weighed in on the beef between the rapper and Nicki Minaj back in February of this year. On Thursday, February 1, Banks took to her Instagram stories to accuse Minaj of being jealous of Megan. Banks stated:

"It’s been years since JAY-Z has publicly co-signed any female rapper, and the fact that it’s Megan - It could be anybody. It could be f**king me. It can be Bhad Bhabie. It can be whoever. The fact some female rapper that’s not Nicki got JAY-Z’s public co-sign makes Nicki jealous."

The singer further called Minaj financially "f**ked up" and claimed that she wanted to be a "Roc Nation girl so f**king bad". However, she also advised Nicki Minaj to stop fighting with her fellow female artists as according to her, the real fight was with the "white men behind them", who wanted a piece of their pie.
