On October 4, 2024, the NFR podcast shared photos of Kendrick Lamar and his family on X, stating they were unseen pictures from the rapper's "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' era." The images are from when Lamar shot the Not Like Us music video featuring the rapper's partner, Whitney Alford, and their two kids.

In one of the pictures, Lamar is seen holding a gun and standing behind his partner and children. The photo garnered a lot of attention, and internet users took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their opinions.

Commenting on the rapper holding a firearm in the picture, an X user questioned:

"why is he promoting gun violence, especially with his kids present??"

One user remarked that Lamar has a gun to defend his family, while another stated that it could be a bad influence on the children.

"Holding a gun around his kid, what a horrible influence" an X user expressed discontent.
"KEEP THE FAMILY SAFE!!" an internet user stated.
"Kendrick stay ready to defend his family ✊🏾" another internet user commented.

One user appreciated the photo, stating:

"This era produced some crazy good photos."

Moreover, some internet users brought Drake's angle into their comments about Lamar's picture holding a firearm:

"Hope Drake learned something from this" an X user mentioned.

Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us ties record for longest-running No.1 track on the Billboard Hot Rap chart

Kendrick Lamar released Not Like Us on May 4, 2024, less than 14 hours after dropping his track Meet The Grahams. The track is Lamar's fourth diss track on Drake, wherein the rapper accused Drizzy of allegedly being a pedophile. Additionally, the track also mentioned 2Pac's estate, expressing discontent over Drake's alleged use of Tupac Shakur's AI-generated voice for his track Taylor Made Freestyle.

Moreover, Lamar released the track's music video on July 4, 2024, which also comprised multiple digs at Drake, including the feature of owls, in reference to the symbol of Drizzy's record label OVO.

According to Hit Channel, on October 3, 2024, Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us tied with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' Old Town Road on the all-time Billboard Hot Rap Songs. Lamar's track has been in the No.1 position on the Billboard chart for 20 consecutive weeks. The publication mentioned that the track has surpassed 810 million streams since its release and might even hit the one billion streams mark by the end of 2024.

The publication also stated that apart from breaking streaming records, Not Like Us became the fastest track in the hip-hop genre to achieve 300 million Spotify streams. This feat broke Drake's single-day record for the most streams of a hip-hop track.


In other news, on September 8, 2024, Kendrick Lamar took to Instagram to announce that he will be headlining the 2025 Super Bowl halftime, which will take place in February 2025 in New Orleans.

Lamar's announcement resulted in a mixed response from the industry, as artists like Nicki Minaj stated that Lil Wayne should've been given the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl as he's a New Orleans native.
