Gabby Thomas was recently announced as the Grand Marshal of the 2024 New York City Marathon. As she stood before thousands of runners around her, she embraced the opportunity to inspire others.
Thomas enjoyed a successful run at the 2024 Paris Olympics, securing three gold medals. Following the victorious streak, the American sprinter has been navigating a busy schedule, making appearances at multiple events and media shows, including the WNBA playoffs and New York Fashion Week.
Adding to the list of events, she was recently named as the Grand Marshal for the 2024 New York City Marathon on October 11. The upcoming New York City Marathon is slated for Sunday, November 3, 2024, and will commence at 8 a.m. ET.
The event will feature multiple categories for the participants, including the professional wheelchair division, athletes with disabilities, and handcycle category. A day before the marathon, the multiple-time Olympic medalist showed her excitement to lead the event as a Grand Marshal.
She shared a video of herself wearing the Grand Marshal slash and wrote:
"How it feels to be the Grand Marshal of NYC Marathon."
While adding the audio that said:
"Fearless, heroic, authentic, iconic, the greatest of all time."
Showing her excitement for the marathon, she expressed her joy in the caption, writing:
"LETS DO THIS NEW YORK!!! 👏🏽🙌🏽"
Further, the 200m Olympic champion also praised the participants and extended her warm wishes, writing:
"I am genuinely in awe of everyone who is running in the @nycmarathon this Sunday!! Stoked to cheer everyone on along with the city of New York as Grand Marshal. Let’s go!!!"

Gabby Thomas was recently added to the nomination list for the 2024 USATF Athlete of the Year award for her incredible performance at the Paris Games.
At the French capital, Gabby Thomas grabbed three gold medals in 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relay events. She beat the 100m Olympic champion Julien Alfred in the 200m after clocking a staggering time of 21.38 seconds to surpass the latter's 22.08 seconds.
With the three-peat feat, she became the most successful American track and field athlete at the French capital. The award will be presented during the 2024 Night of Legends on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
