Caeleb Dressel and his wife Meghan Dressel have announced that they are expecting the arrival of their second child. The former concluded his season at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning two gold medals and one silver medal.
Caeleb and Meghan's love story dates back to their high school days when they were competing on the same swimming team - the Bolles School Sharks. The pair became 'best friends' before falling in love.
The couple got engaged in 2019 after six years of dating before tying the knot in a pre-Valentine's Day wedding in February 2021. They welcomed their first child, a baby boy named August Wilder Dressel in February this year and are scheduled to welcome their second in June 2025.
The couple announced the second pregnancy in an Instagram post on November 27 and were spotted with August and an early pregnancy ultrasound in their hands. Expressing the family's ecstasy in the caption, Meghan Dressel wrote:
"OOPS! We did it again. We are overjoyed to share our family is growing again Baby Dressel #2 coming in June! 2 under 2 here we go."
The two were overjoyed on the arrival of their first child earlier in February and claimed that he had changed their 'lives and hearts.'
"It was more raw, incredible and beautiful than we ever could have dreamed of, and brought us this perfect, healthy, chunky baby boy. God is so good! We are still at a loss for words over it all. August, you have forever changed our world and our hearts. We love you so so much little man," Meghan wrote.
"It's been very fulfilling" - Caeleb Dressel on his experience of being a Dad
Speaking in an interview with Olympics.com in July ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Caeleb Dressel claimed that while parenthood hadn't been beneficial for his swimming, it had made him patient.
“It’s probably hurt more than helped me as a swimmer but it's definitely taught me patience. It's taught me to slow down. The only two things I've been able to do is father stuff and swimming in the run up to Paris 2024,” Caeleb Dressel said.
The nine-time Olympic champion further added that being a father is a fulfilling experience, a role he loves.
“It's definitely a different routine, but that doesn't mean that it's bad. It's been very fulfilling and I’ve loved stepping into that role with Meghan," he said
While Dressel failed to win an individual medal at the Games, he won gold in men's 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m mixed medley and silver in the 4x100m medley.
