Gabby Thomas, the triple Olympic champion from the United States, recently opened up on the celebrities she would want to see in the second edition of the Athlos NYC. Thomas was one of the headliners at this year's event.
Following her campaign at the Paris Olympics, where she secured three gold medals in 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relay events, the Harvard graduate participated in the Athlos NYC, a women's only competition organized by Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, featuring a massive prize pool of $500,000. Although Thomas lost her 200m race to Paris Olympics bronze medalist Brittany Brown, she still took home $25,000 for her second-place finish, clocking in at 22.21 seconds.
The event was also graced by high-profile celebrities such as Shonda Rhimes, Megan Thee Stallion and Flavor Flav, among others. When Gabby Thomas was recently asked about her top five celebrity picks for the second edition of Athlos NYC, the sprinter picked Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Shonda Rhimes, Jonas Brothers and Rihanna.
"Let's see Beyonce; let's see Taylor Swift; she can be on there for sure; let's see who else I mean Shonda Rhimes is already there, but I'm a Shonda Rhimes' huge fan; she showed up, and I would have her come back. See, I'm not embarrassed with it," Thomas said. (via Ali On The Run Show podcast on Spotify) [22:32 onwards]
I'm a huge Jonas Brothers fan (Joe on being asked who she would pick out of three), and then for my last, let's see. For my last, I don't know. I'm trying to think, Rihanna probably," she added.
"Being part of that was such an honor" - Gabby Thomas reflects on joining Athlos NYC

Gabby Thomas was one of the first athletes who was approached for Athlos NYC and quickly signed on without a second thought. In a September interview with Citius Mag, the Olympian expressed her excitement about joining the event and appreciated Alexis Ohanian's efforts in organizing it.
"So when Alexis first came to me, I was really excited about the idea. He is obviously a visionary and has a great track record in investing in women's sports, so I thought perfect opportunity for track and field. I knew we had a great product, and Alexis was really eager to learn about it, and he wanted to learn about what we wanted to see in track meets, what we could do better in sport, and that's really what this is about, so being a part of that was such an honor," she said. Gabby Thomas is currently relishing her time away from the track. She took a trip to the Maldives last month with boyfriend Spencer McManes and joined Sports Illustrated for their latest athlete edition of the swimsuit issue.
