In the 400m freestyle, she clocked 3:58.56, besting Claire Weinstein and Bella Sims to stand atop the podium. In the 800m, she registered a time of 8:05.76 to clinch the gold medal. Meanwhile, the men's 800m and 1500m also witnessed impressive performances from Finke, who stood atop the podium in both events by clocking 7:43.13 in the former and 14:48.65 in the latter. In the post-race interview, Finke and Ledecky were seen talking to USA Swimming together, where she poked fun at Finke for taking more rest days while praising him for his performance.

"Bobby swam his 800 much better than his 1500. I think both of our 1500s were not quite what we wanted. Um, but the 800s were good. So, Bobby looked good out there today. His freestyle was good today and obviously coming off of the IM and Bobby had a few more rest days than I did, so he's been slacking," said Katie Ledecky.

Replying to this, Finke said:

"I'm getting old, I need my days off."

"I can’t stop smiling, it's been like that all week though, so it’s not really new," she said of her new world record. "It’s been so many years in the making to do it tonight. It’s been an incredible night. There is always a story to each world record that I set."

"The crowd was amazing tonight; I couldn’t have done it without that. I flipped at the 750, and it was loud in here, and I just told myself I’m not letting this opportunity go to waste and started sprinting,” she added.
