Noah Lyles oozed confidence as he opened up about his gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics in the second season of Netflix's Sprint docuseries. The American sprinter dominated the 100m event at the 2024 Paris Games.
The first season of the series, which was released in July this year, featured the journey of a few elite athletes, including Lyles's journey in the 2023 World Athletics Championships. At the Championships, the American sprinter made waves after bagging a three-peat victory in 100m, 200m, and men's 4x100m relay races.
The 27-year-old athlete has never been shy about showcasing confidence in his ability. In the recently released second season of 'Sprint,' Lyles was seen confidently reflecting on his 100m victory at the French capital.
"I always knew the title was mine and I was jus letting people borrow it," he said in the episode 1 of season 2."Everybody wants to be the fastest man in the world. People see you as a superhero. Now I go in ti a room and it's 'fastest man in the world, champ.'" (8:00 onwards)
Noah Lyles dominated the 100m event last year in Budapest by clocking a stunning time of 9.83 seconds. A year later at the Paris Games, he continued his dominance after surpassing Kishane Thompson with a razor-thin lead. While the Jamaican settled in second place with 9.79 (.789), Lyles clocked 9.79 (.784) seconds.
Noah Lyles misses a spot on the nomination list for the 2024 World Athlete of the Year Award list despite his gold medal victory at the Paris Olympics
Despite his gold medal feat at the French capital, Noah Lyles was absent from the nomination list for the 2024 World Athlete of the Year Award after being overshadowed by Letsile Tebogo and Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
Tebogo bagged a gold medal in the men's 200m and a silver in the 4x400m relay race at his debut appearance at the Games and Ingebrigtsen secured his second Olympic gold medal in the 5000m.
Although Lyles dominated the 100m event, he finished third in the 200m and did not participate in relay events after testing positive for COVID-19, leading to his absence from the nomination list.
However, Noah Lyles has found his name placed on the nomination list for the 2024 USATF Athlete of the Year Award alongside Rai Benjamin, Ryan Crouser, Quincy Hall, Grant Holloway, and Cole Hocker.
