Nicole Phelps was crowned Miss California USA in 2010, and that same year, she was named one of the top ten finalists in the Miss USA competition. She married the twenty-eight-time Olympic medalist, Michael Phelps, in 2016, and together they have four sons.
Nicole Phelps also volunteers at the Michael Phelps Foundation, which provides financial support to Boys and Girls Clubs, covering program expenses, training, staffing, equipment, supplies, and other promotional material, including awards, posters, and medals.
Through her Instagram story, Nicole Phelps disclosed her thoughts on her latest hobby, which is book reading. She also revealed reading books has also helped her stay away from social media. She wrote,
"I def don't call myself a reader but a friend posted this series and I was intrigued...It took me 5 weeks to read the series 🤯 1. I highly recommend (if u care) 2.Comment w/more good reads please!! It's sparked a new passion and kept me off social 🤭"

Nicole Phelps shared the 'Throne of Glass' book, which is a fantasy series by acclaimed American author Sarah J. Maas. The book is divided into eight parts and chronicles the life journey of the protagonist, Celaena Sardothien, who is an 18-year-old assassin in the Kingdom of Adarlan.
Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time and has clinched 26 gold medals from the World Championships and 19 gold medals from the Swimming World Cup.

During her interview with the 'Between Us Moms' podcast on April 9, 2025, Phelps' wife, Nicole Phelps, revealed her thoughts on respecting her family's privacy and sharing glimpses of their family's lives through social media. She expressed via People, mentioning:
"I do feel there are days that we probably would make for really good reality TV. And not because we have anything to hide because I really don't think we do. I don't think that's in us to share that much with everyone. I think we [already] do our best to share [online] because we recognize there are Phelps fans out there who appreciate Michael and what he's done and they love keeping up with it."
The couple has four sons, Boomer, Beckett, Maverick, and the youngest Nico, who was welcomed in January 2024.
