Sha'Carri Richardson made her Olympic debut at the Paris Olympics, claiming a silver medal in the women’s 100m final behind Julien Alfred.

Richardson intended to debut at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. But a turn of events saw her miss out on selection. She had been impressive that season and was primed to be one of the breakout athletes in the women’s 100m. At the 2020 U.S. Olympic trials, Richardson qualified for the Olympic Games with a time of 10.86 seconds.

However, she was suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency after her urine sample tested positive for THC, a chemical found in marijuana and other cannabis products.

Richardson was forced to accept a one-month suspension from the USADA. Due to this suspension, she was forced to miss the women’s 100m but was eligible to compete in the women’s 4x100m relay team. However, she was not named in the team and had to wait for three years to make her dream a reality.
