Three-time Olympic champion Gabby Thomas made an appearance on ESPN College GameDay ahead of a much anticipated showdown between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Texas Longhorns. Thomas showed her support for the Longhorns.
Thomas gave a commanding performance throughout the 2024 season, where she won the 2024 New York City Grand Prix and set the fastest 200m time of the season at the US Olympic Trials in June, finishing with a blistering 21.78 seconds to secure her spot for her second Summer Games in Paris. Following that, she bagged the ultimate prize at the Paris Olympics by winning the 200m gold with a time of 21.83 seconds, besting St. Lucia's Julien Alfred and fellow American Brittany Brown.
The Harvard graduate also contributed to the USA's gold medal victories in both the 4x100m and the 4x400m relay events, with the American team setting a new national record in the latter category. Following the Paris Olympics, Thomas participated in the Athlos NYC before calling it a day on her 2024 season.
Thomas recently paid a visit to ESPN College GameDay, ahead of Georgia Bulldogs vs Texas Longhorns in Austin. Thomas was there to cheer for the Longhorns and shared multiple stories from her Texas escapades on her Instagram handle.
"Hey guys it's Gabby Thomas here and I'm out at ESPN College GameDay in Austin, Texas, the energy is unreal. I'm so excited to be here," she said in the story shared by College Game Day on its Instagram. "Texas is where my heart lies," she said in a subsequent story."
"These are my babies" - Gabby Thomas on carrying her Olympic medals to every event she attends
During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the 27-year-old stated that she considers her medals from the Paris Olympics her "babies" and keeps them close even when she is traveling.
"So, these medals do not leave my side; these are my babies, so I don't put them in my suitcase that I check; I carry them on with me, and they are almost always stopped at the TSA [Transportation Security Administration] check. But it's almost kind of fun because it's a little moment where you get to flex a little bit," she said (via Jimmy Kimmel Live's Instagram)
Discussing her Tokyo Olympics bronze and silver, Gabby Thomas shared that she has kept them in a drawer.
