Karsten Warholm opened up about losing in the 100m dash against Mondo Duplantis
Karsten Warholm reflected on his 100m showdown against Mondo Duplantis in a post-race interview, admitting that he did not want to lose the match. He said that it was a "tough loss" for him and was "fun" too. Additionally, the athlete added that he was ready for a rematch with the pole vault champion.
"I didn't want to lose honestly. One of us had to lose and I think it would hurt just as much for Mondo as it would hurt for me," Karsten Warholm said. "So, you know it is a tough loss but it's also an event in a venue that I am extremely proud of so, it was fun. It was really fun, especially in the beginning. It wasn’t that fun after crossing the finish line second, I’ll say that. But all the way building up to it felt like something special and something new that I really enjoyed. If he wants a rematch, we will do it obviously."
Karsten Warholm, who broke a 29-year-old 400m hurdles world record in 2021 and then surpassed his own record at the Tokyo Olympics, lost his Olympic champion title at the 2024 Paris Olympics, as Rai Benjamin finished first, clocking 46.46s. The Norwegian secured second place after clocking 47.06s.
