Julien Alfred stunned the world after she put forward a dominant performance in the women's 100m finals at the Paris Olympics. The athlete from Saint Lucia clocked 10.72s to win the gold medal, defeating Sha'Carri Richardson, who won the silver after clocking 10.87s.

In the process, Julien Alfred won Saint Lucia's first-ever Olympic medal and etched her name in the history books. A video from Saint Lucia went viral on social media, where the home crowd was watching the women's 100m final. The crowd erupted in celebration after Alfred clinched the title and won the country's first Olympic medal.

Julian Alfred spoke about representing Saint Lucia at the Paris Olympics in a post-race interview. The athlete expressed pride in getting the opportunity to represent the nation on the world stage.

"You know, I feel honored to be the ambassador for my country. Not many people know about Saint Lucia. Sometimes when they ask me where am I from and be like ' where is Saint Lucia ?'. Now being an Olympic Champion, people will be searching for Saint Lucia. I just feel so honored to wear my country's name across my chest and be an ambassador for them. I'm sure they are celebrating now," she said.

Julian Alfred will be in a quest for her second medal in the women's 200m. She will be in action on August 4, 2024, at 4:45 am ET.
