Alexis Ohanian celebrated the success of the inaugural edition of his all-women track meet Athlos NYC. The entrepreneur drew comparisons between Caitlin Clark's WNBA debut and the viewership of the maiden edition of his track meet that featured some of the fastest female athletes in the world.
Alexis Ohanian launched Athlos NYC, intending to bring about a change in the Track environment and to become a pioneer for change in women's sports. Along with featuring some of the fastest athletes, the event had the first-of-a-kind post-race performances with appearances from Megan Thee Stallion and DJ D-Nice, making it a memorable experience for the spectators.
Moreover, Alexis Ohanian offered a hefty paycheck along with the share of 10% of the total revenue marking a change in the prize money drought in track and field. He took to X to celebrate the success of the first edition of Athlos NYC, revealing that the event recorded over three million viewers which was more than the viewership during Caitlin Clark's WNBA debut.
"Three million, that's right, over three million viewers saw Athlos globally across all streaming. What an amazing, amazing job. Credit to all the ladies of Athlos, credit to all of you who spread, and credit to the team who brought Athlos to life. Thank You! Thank You!Thank You!" he said.

Alexis Ohanian on his decision to invest in women's sports
Alexis Ohanian spoke about his decision to invest in women's sports. He revealed how he wanted to be a part of the growth of women's sports and believed that it was a great investment.
"If every single one of the women who races here today feels like this was the best meet of their lives, check. We’re doing something right. Job’s not finished, but we’re doing something right. None of this is about charity. It's pure business and the reality is women are a great investment and women in sport are an exceptionally great investment," he said.
Furthermore, he exuded excitement for the upcoming editions of Athlos as well as pioneering change in women's sports.
