Before entering the off-season, Gabby Thomas had a terrific 2024 season on the track, especially her victories at the Paris Olympics. She won three gold medals in the 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay events.

Following this, she competed in the last meet of her season at the Athlos NYC, which was held on September 26 at the Ichan Stadium. The 27-year-old claimed second place as Brittany Brown trounced her.

Gabby Thomas was one of the first athletes to announce participation at the Athlos NYC meet, organized by Serena Williams' husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. His main aim was to promote women's sports. Following this, track and field legend Michael Johnson launched a new track meet called 'Grand Slam Track,' whose main aim is the growth of athletic events.

In a recent interview with Front Office Sports, Thomas shared her thoughts on the new changes in the sport, saying:

"I mean Athlos NYC was clearly great one event but much more to come. Down the line, Grand Slam track league is another league that is in the works right now, which I think is really exciting and good for the sport. Any time you can have a league or a situation where athletes are committed to competing, I think that will definitely grow the sport forward."

Gabby Thomas's total Olympic medals tally is five, of which three are gold, one is silver, and one is bronze. She won the silver and the bronze in the 4x100m relay and 200m dashes, respectively, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and bagged the rest during the Paris Olympics.
