The 2024 season saw numerous US track and field athletes finish among the top positions in the World Athletics rankings owing to their consistent performances throughout the year.
Noah Lyles led the charge in the Men's 100m event taking the lead over South Africa's Akani Simbine by 29 points. Fred Kerley finished third with 1425 points to his name.
The Women's 200m event saw a close finish in the World Athletics rankings with Gabby Thomas and Brittany Brown clinching the top two positions with 1439 and 1438 points respectively. Sha'Carri Richardson lost out to Saint Lucian sprinter, Julien Alfred for the first position in the Women's 100m and had to settle in for the second position in the rankings.
Other United States track and field athletes like Kenny Bednarek, Ryan Crouser, and Tara Davis-Woodhall clinched the top three positions in the World Athletics rankings list.
