Suni Lee debuted in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue for the 2025 fold, leaving her fellow athletes in awe of her milestone achievement. Lee has been busying herself with several fashion appearances after her Paris Olympic success.
Suni Lee, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic all-around champion, was diagnosed with a rare kidney issue at the beginning of 2023. The health-related setback compelled her to end her NCAA career prematurely and miss the major competitions in 2023. However, Lee bounced back from her persisting illness, returned to the gym later that year, and entered the roster at the 2024 Winter Cup, building up to the Paris Games.
In the quadrennial event, the 21-year-old won the team gold and added the uneven bars bronze to her wall of fame. After that, she attended the US Open finals, donned Tommy Hilfiger-designed fits at the New York Fashion Week, and graced the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, among others.
Lee etched her name alongside iconic names in the Women of the Year class of 2024. She soon achieved another milestone and graced the Swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated as a debutant for the 2025 fold.
She donned a chocolate brown bikini while posing by the pool, and left her former collegiate gymnastic mate, Olivia Dunne and tennis player Coco Gauff stunned.
Dunne, who graced the SI Swimsuit issue in 2023 and 2024, hailed the Olympic gold medalist, writing:
'SO GOOD"
Former World No.1 Coco Gauff chimed in and wrote:
"yesss"
Taking to her Instagram stories, Suni Lee offered some behind-the-scene glimpses of her SI Swimsuit cover shoot. In the first story, she stood ready in the bikini while her hair and makeup team did the final touches.
"Finishing touches"
The following video had Lee posing on the poolside lounger as a couple of cameras captured her from various angles.
"is this real life??" she questioned.
Suni Lee met Beyonce at the Glamour Award show and shared a frame with K-pop icon Lalisa at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
Suni Lee expressed gratitude for her string of achievements in 2024
Lee recently attended the Amazon-presented CFDA Fashion Awards in a plunging sheer lace dress paired with a furry coat. She posted an Instagram story, expressing gratitude for the successful year.
"The most amazing experience ever this year has been a dream & i'm so blessed to be in the rooms i'm in," her caption read.
Following the Paris Games, the World medalist also took an off-season trip to Tulum, and returned to her alma mater, Auburn University, as an honoree with the Olympic medals around her neck.
