Riley Gaines reacted to the comments made by Jaguar's CEO over the criticism of their viral advertisement. Jaguar had recently launched an ad, which promoted the diversity of their company.
The focus was on inclusivity, and the ad included models from the LGBTQ+ community. However, many believed their main goal of promoting a recently launched electric vehicle was entirely missing from the ad. However, the managing director, Rawdon Glover, called out the criticism of the new ad as promoting 'vile hatred and intolerance'.
Gaines weighed in her thoughts about Glover's comments as she posted on her X (formerly known as Twitter) handle,
"No, @Jaguar, this isn’t about intolerance. Have you considered that when people are shopping for a car, they’re typically focused on affordability, practicality, and safety—not diversity, equity, or inclusion? Return to reality."
Gaines also shared the video of Volvo's recent advertisement and compared it with Jaguar's ad. The 24-year-old social activist posted,
"Jaguar celebrates their own "DEI journey", Volvo celebrates life. I know which I'd pick"
Riley Gaines is known for her campaign to exclude trans athletes from women's sports, which first gained attention following her protest against transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
Riley Gaines reacts to a high school official's comment on women's sports
Riley Gaines recently reacted to a lawsuit filed against a Californian school. The school officials had criticized two students over their campaign against the school administration.
For the unversed, high school cross-country runners recently sued Martin Luther King High School, for making insensitive comments over wearing 'Save Girls' Sports' T' shirts. As per reports, they were made to remove or conceal their T-shirts, and their actions were compared to 'Nazi Swastika'. The 24-year-old took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared her thoughts on the matter and tweeted:
"A California school official compared a “Save Girls Sports” shirt to wearing a swastika. Outrageous and dangerous rhetoric. I’m glad they’re suing, and I hope the girls win big. Thank GOD there’s a new sheriff in town."
Riley Gaines also protested against the inclusion of Blaire Fleming in the women's volleyball team of San Jose State University. According to reports, due to the inclusion of Fleming, five educational institutions had forfeited their matches at the Mountain West Conference in protest.
